Vernissage / Kewenig
Friday 6th February – 7pm until 9pm
William Kentridge’s moody, melodic animations capture the stormy past and the uncertain future with a whimsical, evocative exuberance that is virtually unrivaled in the world of video art. The complex, intricate Kentridge animations dot the institutional landscape like Picasso’s or Monet’s, and yet surprisingly the artist’s other works are rarely seen within the art world. So, count your blessings and consult your calendar, because this Friday night Kewenig presents a selection of tapestries alongside drawings, collage and films by the esteemed South African artist, and this is one show you absolutely do not want to miss.

Like the acclaimed William Kentridge, the inimitable Hollay Zausner works artfully and instinctively in collage, film, and alternative media such as sculpture, photography and performance. Zausner’s fresh, witty work provides a unique perspective on the urban environment, vascillating between gritty banality and etherial dreamscapes with uncommon aplomb.

Vernissage / Galerie Judin
Friday 6th February – 6pm util 9pm
Cluj Connection 3D at Galerie Judin brings together work from 8 artists with ties to Cluj, Romania for a spectacular follow-up to the formative 2006 exhibition Cluj Connection. Young talents represented in the 2006 show have developed into full-blown art stars, practices have morphed and metastasized, and yet art in three dimensions remains a primary concern for the Cluj Connection artists, even those who have become best know for their skill with the brush. Sculptural surveys appear all too rarely on the Berlin art calendar, and Cluj Connection 3D promises to be a very special exploration of the world of the third dimension and the thriving practices of 8 exceptionally talented artists.
