Vernissage / Eigen + Art Lab
Friday 20th February – 5pm until 7pm
Eigen + Art Lab has earned a reputation as one of Berlin’s premier venues for emerging talent, and this Friday night’s group show featuring innovative ceramic works from five young artists is no exception. With all of the focus on new media and material exploration in the contemporary art world it is nonetheless rare to find a group show with such a nuanced, expressive focus on the world of clay and gaze. Lose yourself in an exhibition both extraordinary and inherently earthbound while you have the chance— it’s unlikely another experiment in clay this exciting will come around again any time soon.

Vernissage / Kunstsaele Berlin

Rolf-Gunter Dienst’s minimal, abstract paintings follow a distinct, self-imposed code, an organized melding of form and symbol both poetic and utterly postmodern. The rich, earthy tones of Dienst’s pallet ground the conceptual wanderings of the composition, resulting in a formal complexity both rich and playful—the perfect way to warm up on a cold Berlin Friday.

Performance / Aanant & Zoo
Friday 20th February – 6pm until 9pm
This Saturday evening, treat yourself to an astonishing performance at Aanant & Zoo as Anna Clementi performs works by John Cage and Dieter Schnebel. Berlin is a city of music and passion, but to find a performer of this caliber celebrating avant-garde composition in a gallery setting is an occasion worth celebrating.

Vernissage / neugerriemschneider
Friday 20th February – 6pm until 9pm
Billy Childish is a hill walker, a spiritual seeker who communes with nature on an elevated plane. Working in the impressionist style of Van Gogh with a palette that leans more towards the exotic earthiness of Gauguin, Billy Childish creates work that bring their own oxygen to the room, transcending the usual viewing experience and offering up art just a little more sacred.

Vernissage / Isabella Bortolozzi
Saturday 21st February – 6pm until 9pm
Danny McDonald’s aesthetic sensibilities read like a Walt Disney acid trip, laden with conceptual weight and bursting with cartoonish joy. With a five channel video installation at Isabella Bortolozzi, McDonald has sufficient room to play, bringing his unique brand of highly-articulated pop-infused visuals to new heights.
