The Word Magazine Party

Thursday 27th June

Motto is one of my favourite places in Kreuzberg. Despite the aloof staff (maybe they’re taking the ‚aloof hipster‘ look a little too far?) their range of books and magazines is incredible, and they have impeccable taste in background music. This Thursday Belgian bi-annual magazine ‚The Word‘ celebrates its latest edition with a party at the store with DJ’s, a film, concert and an exhibition of illustrations.

John Stezaker ‚Crossing Over‘

Thursday 27th June

Deutsche Börse prize winner John Stezaker is back with his unique brand of collaged photography with an exhibition at Capitain Petzel. Famous for his juxtaposed images of portraits and landscapes, the British artist will unveil 40 new collages based on postcard fragments. This exhibition also sees Stezaker explore with the medium of film, unveiling three film pieces also on the theme of ‚Crossing Over‘.

White Bouncy Castle

Friday 28th June

Depending on your demeanour there are few opportunities to revert to child like behaviour in adult life. Running around half naked with abandon, water fights in the park and eating chocolate cake messily with most of it on your face are now activities that are generally frowned upon, much to our disappointment. Thankfully choreographer William Forsythe provides us with a chance to channel our inner child this week with his monumental installation ‚White Bouncy Castle‚. Exactly as it sounds, the piece is accompanied by a soundtrack and encourages visitors to dance as soon as they enter the castle. We can’t wait.

Artconnect Berlin Networking Brunch

Saturday 29th June

If you think that networking is synonymous with late nights and arduous conferences or orchestrated parties then let Artconnect Berlin provide you with a refreshing change – their networking brunch. A bi-monthly event, this Saturday’s event will include talks by contemporary art blog Art Fridge and innovative photography app EyeEm. Art talk over coffee – what better way to start the day?
