Studio Visit at an avant-garde designer

There’s nothing quite like getting behind the scenes of glamorous events, and Berlin fashion week is no exception. This week take the opportunity to visit the studio of avant-garde designer I‘ VR Isabel Vollrath as she prepares part of her latest collection. A blend of architecture and unusual materials, her previous pieces have been described as “Avantgarde meets Baroque”, and are a treat for the eyes as well as the body.

Berlin Fashion Film Festival Closing Party

Berlin Fashion Film Festival is back for the second year running, celebrating all that is chic on the silver screen. Running from July 2nd – July 4th and including a range of screenings, the programme ends with an exclusive awards ceremony and (for everyone else) an after party and runway show by French designer Charlie Le Mindu, one of Lady Gaga’s previous hair stylists.

Pop-up exhibition – Eylül Aslan

Feast your eyes on the beautiful photography of Turkish artist Eylül Aslan at this pop up exhibition arranged by wolf auf tausend plateaus magazine and the EDGED showroom. Currently working on her upcoming photography book ‚September Lion‘ Aslan will be present at this cosy event to answer any burning questions you may have. NB: She mentions on her website she is currently looking for Berlin based models, so if you fancy being on the other side of the lens during fashion week this may be your chance.

Meet young artists at Studio Olafur Eliasson

Olafur Eliasson may be a household name in contemporary art, but how many of you know that a school guided by the artist himself is situated here in Berlin? Explore the Institut für Raumexperimente for yourself this Friday, when its doors will be open for latest exhibition Accidental Accomplishment. Featuring a host of upcoming artists, among them is Raul Walch, whose impressive sculptures have been causing quite a stir.

The Eye Has To Travel – Souziehaas

If the artificiality of fashion week is getting you down then Souziehaas‘ exhibition at Mindpirates is the perfect antitode. ‚The Eye Has To Travel‘ is an intimate portrait of the artist’s life, questioning the role of women and gender in society. The exhibition will explore what ‚camp‘ really is – not just a genre, but an aesthetic sensibility.
