Vernissage / Group show at AJLArt
Friday 21st March – 6 until 10pm
Scottish artist Robert Montgomery caused quite a stir last summer with his striking neon signs, stationed everywhere from Tempelhof to Stattbad Wedding and on the former grounds of Bar 25. This spring the artist is back, part of a group show at AJLArt with a focus on thoughtful typography. Also featuring work by conceptual American artist Lawrence Weiner and Scottish artist /writer/ poet/gardener Ian Hamilton Finlay, the show will run until April 26th.

It’s well known that Berlin has attracted thousands of hopeful young artists to its rich, fertile soil and the last few months have been no exception. The Takt residency, a programme welcoming international artists to come live in Berlin for an extended period and cultivate their practice, will this Friday unveil a group show presenting a glimpse of the fruits of their labour. Each of the nine selected artists will choose one work to share, the range of media spanning drawing, painting, 3D collage, video, installation, written verse, performance and dance.

Private art collection / Sammlung Heiner Wemhöner at Osram-Höfe
Saturday 22nd March – 6pm
Art Collector Heiner Wemhöner will this weekend begin the presentation of some of his extensive private collection with a show at the former Max Hetzler Gallery. Presenting approximately one tenth of Wemhöner’s work, the show will include pieces by international art heavyweights such as Marina Abramović, Alfredo Jaar and Helmut Newton, and demonstrate a collection spanning many artistic genres over 30 years. Beginning his collection in the 1990’s, Wemhöner has worked for decades upon creating a dialogue between artwork and public, this exhibition an example of his efforts.

Play/ Reykjavik
Wednesday 26th March – 7pm
Perhaps this doesn’t technically qualify as this weekend, but this event promises to be such a corker we’ve included it anyway. The second in a new series of intimate plays set at Geist im Glas by London director David Ncube, Reykjavik will portray the dreams of one couple and their attempts to reach the scenic capital of Iceland. With only a handful of actors and the super cosy setting of the well loved Neukölln pub, the evening is sure to immerse you in Ncube’s magical vision.
