Vernissage / Dysgraphic City (among the artists: Cyprien Gaillard)
Thursday 22nd August – 6pm
Berlin: a mecca of infinite possibilities, people, sounds, ideas and a place we call home. View the city through the eyes of eight international artists who have based their work and current exhibition at Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien on Berlin’s rediscovered and reinvented landscape. During a three month summer residency at the much acclaimed Node Center the artists produced a body of work including video, photography, sound installation, drawing, mixed media projects and a wealth of fresh perspectives on our familiar surroundings.
Kunstraum Kreuzberg/Bethanien // Mariannenplatz 2, 10997 Berlin
Opening / Hamburger Bahnhof / The Berlin World Improvement Machine
Friday 23rd August – 7pm
A secret research project which dates back to the 17th century, The Berlin World Improvement Machine consists of “a particular arrangement of artworks and artefacts, which together unfold effects to improve the world.”. No, this isn’t a real life enactment of a Dan Brown novel but a current, realised project based in sixteen museums around Berlin where around 70 objects, or ‚components‘, of the machine/curatorial project are housed. Visit old favourite Hamburger Bahnhof to find out more.

Vernissage / Kjell Erik Killi Olsen: Behind the Gate
Saturday 24th August – 6pm
If you’re looking for a more fine art orientated opening this weekend head to Loock Galerie, where Norwegian artist Kjell Erik Killi Olsen will have his first solo show in Berlin. A painter who emerged during New York in the eighties, Killi focuses on social interaction and the vulnerable, ‚outsiders‘ of society. The show will document an abstract series of 24 paintings by the artist, all painstakingly layered and detailed.
