Biennale / Berlin Biennale 8
Runs until 3rd August 2014
If you missed the grand opening of the Berlin Biennale on Wednesday evening no matter – there are more than enough events planned from now until the end of August as part of the event’s program to enable you to participate. Housed at four distinct venues: House Am Waldsee, Museen Dahlem, KW and the KW Crash Pad, this year’s Biennale is curated by Juan A. Gaitán and brings together a range of international artists exploring historical narratives and people’s lives. Highlights this weekend include a theatre piece at noon on Friday at Museen Dahlem and a ballet and concert at 12 noon on Saturday at Haus Am Waldsee.

Vernissage / Eva Kotátková ‚Anatomical Orchestra‘ -Schinkel Pavillon
Friday 30th May – 7pm
The role of nature vs nurture in human development is a concept we’ve been exploring now for centuries, and is by no means new. This doesn’t mean we can’t keep viewing the issue from different perspectives though, something which Czech artist Eva Kotátková explores in her upcoming exhibition ‚Anatomical Orchestra‘. Based at Schinkel Pavillon, the space will be transformed into a surreal setting where ‚oversized instruments‘ and ‚peculiar prostheses‘ are poised to interact with visitors. Also look out for the concerts and workshops on at later dates as part of the exhibition.
Schinkel Pavillon // Oberwallstrasse 1, 10117 Berlin
Austellung / ‚K wie Körper‘ by Ines Kotarac
Opening times vary – check here for more details
If the hype around some of the bigger art events and openings this weekend is leaving you cold then pay a visit to Suzie Fu Bar, where you can admire the photography exhibition ‚K wie Körper‘ which opened earlier this week. Featuring delicate black and white photographs invoking enigmatic atmospheres using the body, this is the perfect place to venture for some aesthetic stimulation and a cocktail.
